Volunteers Get the Call
“We are calling you forward to present you with a certificate that says: ‘thank you, you have made a difference.”
Elizabeth Hart, Chairman of Essex County Council
On the 3rd February 2010 young members in Essex gathered at County Hall to launch ‘iwill’. ‘iwill’ is a website dedicated to promoting volunteering to young people. The website was made by young people, for young people.
There was a good turn out and a lot of enthusiasm – perhaps because there was a free dinner involved. The night was packed of smiles and certificates as young people, aged between 11 and 25, were given recognition for their volunteering in Essex. Achievements ranged from working with children with special needs to working in an Indian orphanage.
Other groups were also being promoted such as
Vinvolved and NACRO which will work along side
iwill (made by Essex County Council) to try and get the best opportunities possible for young people.
Elizabeth Hart, Chairman of Essex County Council opened the presentation evening and ending her speech said:
“Without your commitment to make a difference, so much would be missed out on, not only by you, the young people – but by the many organisations and groups that you give your time, skills and effort to.”
The evening was a great success and we look forward to improving the website with more opportunities and input from others. iwill has helped recognise young volunteers everywhere and give them the award they deserve as well as showcasing what other young people can do if they so wish.
See what a difference you could make!
